New toolbox to assess energy performance in buildings and retrofit needs.
Supporting the development, implementation and validation of a new generation of Energy Performance Assessment and Certification, with a deliberate focus on residential buildings, more specifically existing ones, for which retrofit is one of the most challenging and pressing issue. By enhancing EPCs usability, reliability, and comparability, and by linking them to renovation roadmaps and building digital notebooks, EPC RECAST can achieve unprecedented user-friendliness and user awareness of building performance.

EPC RECAST is developing a transparent, common and explicit data model (i.e. input data to be collected for EPC assessments and calculations) which will support the characterization of existing buildings and dwellings during on-site inspections by professional certifiers, and improve the comparability between EPCs.
By involving end-users in multiple steps throughout design phase of the next generation EPCs, the project aims to provide more user-friendly EPCs. The aim is for these EPCs to provide an easier understanding of the energy performance results and context-specific renovation roadmaps.
One of the key issues to address for next generation EPCs is to improve their reliability. EPC RECAST will provide operational and detailed guidelines about the developed tools and methodologies to facilitate the on-site collection of relevant data and parameters by assessors.
Providing an improved calibration of building energy modelling through the cross-exploitation of measured energy-related data and energy performance calculation tool.
Our objective is to support the work of professional EPC assessors to achieve improved EPC reliability, comparability in between building assets and more user-friendliness. By doing so, we aim to generate an impact for owners and occupants to engage them on a tangible pathway to efficient energy retrofit.
We will support the emergence of the next generation of regulatory Energy Performance Certificate (EPC).
